The first time you see the Milky Way appear on your screen, you are hooked, and astrophotography for beginners is more approachable than most people think. Find truly dark skies, set a wide lens to its largest aperture, push your ISO, and expose for around fifteen seconds before the stars start to trail. A sturdy tripod is essential. Dress warm, be patient, and let the quiet vastness overhead do the rest.
Wishing Well
Ask any photographer about their favourite light and most will say golden hour photography. In the hour after sunrise and before sunset, the sun sits low, soft and warm, wrapping everything in a flattering glow. The window is short, so I plan ahead, arrive early and shoot fast. Backlight for haze, sidelight for texture, whatever you choose, that fleeting golden light can turn an ordinary scene into something magical.

There is a strange beauty in industry, and industrial photography is about finding it. Factories, pipes and production lines are full of repetition, texture and scale that make for bold, graphic frames. I look for strong lines, dramatic light and the human moments tucked among the machinery. With safety gear on and permission sorted, heavy industry becomes an endless studio of form, process and quiet power.
